Levitate recognized with the Order of Saint Panteleimon in Denmark

Levitate has been honored with the Order of Saint Panteleimon, Ukraine’s highest public recognition for contributions to healthcare, in recognition of its work supporting prosthetics and rehabilitation in Ukraine.

The honour was presented on Saturday at Ukraine House in Copenhagen, following the Denmark-Ukraine Healthcare Dialogue. The day brought together voices from across healthcare to examine what happens after acute treatment: how people continue their recovery, return to their communities and rebuild their lives.

For Levitate, the recognition reflects more than the delivery of prosthetic technology. It speaks to the wider work required to make rehabilitation both meaningful and sustainable.

Beyond the prosthesis

A prosthesis can be an important part of rebuilding independence after limb loss, but receiving a device is only the beginning of the journey.

Learning to use a prosthesis involves time, rehabilitation and professional guidance. Fitting and alignment, training, follow-up and access to experienced prosthetists all shape how successfully someone can integrate a device into their daily life.

Working in Ukraine has made this particularly clear to Levitate. The technology matters, but so does the professional knowledge and support surrounding it. A prosthetic solution becomes truly useful when the person receiving it has the opportunity, expertise and continued care needed to make it work for their individual life.

Supporting long-term rehabilitation

Ukraine faces an enormous and growing need for rehabilitation, making collaboration between healthcare professionals, organisations and international partners increasingly important.

These topics were central to the Denmark-Ukraine Healthcare Dialogue, where Levitate Founder and CEO Lasse Werner Madsen joined a panel discussing the journey from treatment and rehabilitation back to family, work and participation in society.

The discussion touched on challenges including access to psychological support, reintegration, sharing patient information, financing gaps and cooperation between the Danish and Ukrainian healthcare systems.

For Levitate, being part of that conversation was an opportunity to contribute experience from its work in Ukraine while learning from professionals working directly across the healthcare system.

The Order of Saint Panteleimon recognises this contribution and the importance of continued work within healthcare and rehabilitation in Ukraine. It is also a reminder of what sits behind every prosthetic solution: a person, a professional network and a long-term journey towards greater independence.
