Meet Jeff: Moving Forward, On His Own Terms

Meet Jeff: Moving Forward, On His Own Terms

For Jeff, playing sports and being active outdoors have always been a big part of his life. It’s taken him to new places, given him something to work towards and shaped how he spends much of his time. So when an accident at Hueco Tanks in Texas changed his life, returning to the things he loves was always going to mean more than simply learning to walk again.

In November 2024, Jeff suffered a severe lower-leg injury in an outdoor climbing accident, as well as a dislocated elbow. The years that followed brought 14 surgeries, multiple grafts and countless hours of rehabilitation as he worked to recover as much function as possible.

Eventually, Jeff made the decision to move forward with a below-knee amputation.

For someone whose life has always been shaped by sports and being active outdoors, the decision was a step towards regaining independence and exploring what an active future could look like.

Back on his feet

Jeff recently took his first steps with a Levitate Forever 6”, beginning a new stage in his return to everyday movement.

Learning to use a new prosthesis takes time. Each walk, each adjustment and each new experience builds familiarity and confidence, gradually making it feel more natural. For Jeff, these first steps are the foundation for everything he wants to take on next.

Progress looks different for everyone in the community. Sometimes it is a milestone you have been working towards; other times, it is simply the growing confidence that comes with doing something again and realizing how far you have come.

Looking ahead

As one of Levitate’s newest ambassadors, Jeff brings a lifelong passion for sports, a love of the great outdoors and plenty of experience to draw on as he begins this next chapter.

We're excited to follow along as he continues to explore what's possible and discovering what comes next, on his own terms.

A very warm welcome to the Levitate community, Jeff.
