Yana Stepanenko running in Tokyo!
On March 1, Yana Stepanenko took on an incredible challenge, running in the Tokyo Marathon Friendly Run to honor Ukrainian defender Oleksandr Zhavnenko. Her journey to this moment has been nothing short of inspiring.
We first met Yana in May 2024 at the Unbroken facility in Lviv, where she tried Levitate Running Blades for the first time. From that moment, she never stopped moving. After losing both legs in a missile attack in 2022, Yana turned to running. Not just as a personal challenge, but as a way to inspire others and raise awareness for those in need.
Last year, she completed a 5K run in Boston, raising funds for a Ukrainian veteran. Now, she has taken her determination to the global stage, crossing the finish line in Tokyo with resilience and purpose.
This time, Yana ran in honor of Oleksandr Zhavnenko, a Ukrainian soldier who lost both legs in combat. Before the war, Oleksandr was a dancer, moving with passion and grace. Despite his injuries, he dreams of running, playing sports, and dancing with his wife once again. Yana’s run in Tokyo was not just about athletic achievement—it was a powerful symbol of solidarity and hope, proving that mobility and independence should never be out of reach.
At Levitate, we are incredibly proud of Yana and her unstoppable spirit. Her journey continues to inspire and remind us all of the strength, resilience, and determination of those who refuse to be defined by their circumstances.
Congratulations, Yana! We are cheering for you every step of the way.
