First on the Field: How Wender and the Mustangs Are Changing the Game
In a sport driven by speed, strategy, and team spirit, Wender is doing more than keeping up — he’s breaking new ground.
Born with a spinal malformation that led to the amputation of his leg, Wender has faced challenges his whole life. But limitations have never been part of his mindset. Today, he’s the only Brazilian amputee actively playing flag football, and he's doing it as part of a groundbreaking team: @mustangs.oficial, the first Brazilian team to feature an amputee athlete on the field.
“I found Levitate on Instagram, loved the blades and bought one. The quality, performance, and resistance have been incredible — it’s my partner on the field and has helped me so much,” says Wender.
With his Levitate blade, Wender doesn't just participate, he competes. His blade supports explosive movement, quick pivots, and the kind of agility that flag football demands. But more than that, it gives him freedom. Confidence. The ability to play a sport he loves, with a team that believes in him.
Wender and the Mustangs are not just playing a game. They’re challenging the narrative of what’s possible for amputees in sports.
For Levitate, stories like Wender’s are the reason we do what we do. We design prosthetics that go beyond function because performance, dignity, and representation matter.
To Wender and the Mustangs: we’re proud to support your journey. You’re not just first on the field — you’re first to inspire a whole new wave of athletes.
