Running Together — For Freedom
On May 24th, Ukrainian veterans joined Lithuanian military personnel, officials, and Vilnius locals in a symbolic run titled “For Your Freedom and Ours.”
Covering 300 meters side by side, the participants honored the shared values of strength, solidarity, and the unbreakable bond between Ukraine and Lithuania.
Among the Ukrainian veterans was Roman Chernenko, a veteran of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who completed the run on his Levitate prosthetic. After the run, Roman shared a message on social media:
“Friends, it’s me. In the second photo — my first steps on a prosthetic, just six months ago. In the third — I’ve already run 5 km in a little over 30 minutes. To my fellow wounded brothers — don’t give up. All limitations are only in our minds. We are Ukrainians. Fighting is in our blood. Let’s keep going!”
A big thank you goes out to Unbroken and the Government of Lithuania for creating spaces where recovery, strength, and forward movement can happen — together.
