Ihor runs the Drohobych Half Marathon: A Story of Strength, Service, and Second Chances
When you see Ihor cross the finish line of the Drohobych Half Marathon, it’s hard not to feel moved. Not a long time ago, he was taking his first steps with a new set of Levitate prosthetics. Today, he’s running among 500+ participants, including fellow veterans, children, and locals, all united for one cause: supporting Ukraine’s “Chornyi Lis” brigade.
Ihor is a Ukrainian soldier who lost both legs in combat. But loss didn’t define his story, movement did. From the moment we met him, it was clear he was determined to get back on his feet, no matter the odds.
This run wasn’t just about physical distance, it was about how far he’s come. From learning to walk again to climbing trails and now running an official race. Through snow and sub-zero temperatures, he showed up - for himself, for his fellow soldiers, and for the entire Drohobych community.
The half marathon brought together more than 500 runners, over 50 volunteers, and 40+ partners. It wasn’t just a sporting event, it was a statement of unity and strength. And Ihor was right at the heart of it.
