Levitate receives Herlev Business Award 2026
Levitate has grown a lot since its early days in Herlev. Today, our prosthetic technology reaches people around the world, while our roots remain firmly here. This year, that journey has been recognized with the Herlev Business Award 2026.
The award was presented at Herlev’s annual business dialogue, celebrating companies that contribute to the local business community through innovation, growth, collaboration, social responsibility and a strong working environment.
For Levitate, the recognition reflects more than the technology developed inside its Herlev headquarters. It also recognizes the people, jobs and ideas being built around it.
Today, almost 30 people work at Levitate in the Herlev area, with around 40 employees across the wider organization. While almost all of the company’s products are exported internationally, development and production remain firmly rooted in Denmark.
What comes after the technology
A prosthetic is one part of life after amputation. What comes around it matters too: having someone to turn to, being able to ask questions, and meeting others who understand the experience.
That is why Levitate’s work extends beyond developing and producing prosthetic feet. Through collaborations with organizations, networks and communities around the world, we also work to create more opportunities for people to connect, exchange experiences and find support.
It is something that has always been close to the heart of Levitate and our Founder & CEO, Lasse Werner Madsen.
As Lasse puts it:
“I’m just trying to create what I didn’t have myself.”
For Levitate, that means continuing to look at the bigger picture: not only how prosthetic technology can support someone’s movement, but also how the right connections and support can help them move forward.
A local foundation for a global business
The Herlev Business Award also highlights Levitate’s role as a growing Danish company creating specialized jobs locally while operating on an international scale.
From its Herlev base, Levitate’s production and R&D teams develop, test and manufacture prosthetic technology that is shipped to people across the world.
The award is a recognition of that journey, and of the people who have helped build it.
