From Everyday Life to the Slopes: Forever Foot in Motion with U+
As part of our ongoing collaboration with U+, a rehabilitation center in Kyiv, we took part in a winter event focused on movement, confidence, and shared experience.
The event brought together U+ patients, amputees of different ages and backgrounds, for a day of skiing in Ukraine. While winter conditions made everyday movement challenging across the city, participants headed in a different direction to the slopes. Despite the cold and demanding environment, they took to skis and snowboards together and found not only physical activity but also a renewed sense of freedom and possibility after life changing injuries.
All participants skied using our Forever foot prosthetics and experienced firsthand how the right technology can support balance, control, and confidence in demanding conditions. On the slopes, maneuverability, speed, and control came naturally, to the point where without knowing there were prosthetics inside the ski boots, it would have been hard to tell. The focus was less on limitations and more on moving naturally and with confidence.
Beyond the physical activity, the day created a strong sense of community. Participants skied side by side, supported one another, and shared moments of energy and adrenaline that went far beyond sport. Between the winter temperatures and the rush of movement, it was a reminder that rehabilitation is not only about medical outcomes but also about restoring joy, independence, and trust in one’s own body.
Organised by U+ together with partners within the Active Parks Unstoppable initiative, the event showed what becomes possible when community, opportunity, and the right technology come together.
