“Table tennis has taught me that, despite your disability, you can achieve unbelievable things.”
Earlier this year, Joseline Yévenes Vera reached an important milestone in her sporting journey by securing qualification for a major South American table tennis competition.
Several years ago, Joseline was diagnosed with synovial sarcoma in her right leg. She underwent chemotherapy, but unfortunately her leg had to be amputated. Through table tennis, her rehabilitation progressed faster than she expected. Day by day, she gained confidence, and adapting to her prosthesis became part of her development as an athlete.
The national qualifying event was held at the Paralympic Training Centre in Parque Estadio Nacional. It served as the selection competition for the South American Championships taking place in Valledupar, Colombia, in July this year. After months of focused preparation, Joseline finished in second place, earning her qualification.
“Qualifying was one of my main goals for 2026. I worked really hard to achieve it and to make sure I could compete at my best.”
Arriving at the competition, both physical readiness and mental confidence played a key role. The result reflected the preparation behind it and the trust built through consistent training.

Where sport opens new opportunities
As a high-performance athlete, sport plays a central role in Joseline’s life. Through table tennis, new opportunities have opened up, including the chance to represent her country on an international stage.
“Sport is everything to me. It has opened doors I never imagined and given me the opportunity to represent my country.”
Joseline trains and competes using the Levitate Forever foot, designed for everyday use while supporting an active lifestyle. The foot provides stability, smooth rollover, and reliable comfort throughout long training days, helping her move naturally and stay focused on her performance.
With the support of Levitate and Cilefmedical, better mobility has meant quicker reactions, more confidence in movement, and greater freedom to compete.
From limitation to opportunity
Paralympic sport represents a shift in perspective for her, from seeing disability as a limitation to recognizing it as an opportunity for rehabilitation and personal growth.
“What once felt like a limitation became an opportunity, not just in sport, but in my life.”
To anyone beginning their journey with a prosthesis and feeling uncertain about returning to sport, her message is simple: dare to try.
Joseline’s story is a reminder that life offers second chances, and that confidence grows through movement, sport, and belief in what’s possible.
