On Stage with Levitate Running Blade: Andrew Gregory’s Story

On Stage with Levitate Running Blade: Andrew Gregory’s Story

“My life changed for the better the moment I made that decision. I’ve never looked back.”

Andrew Gregory is a below knee amputee based in London, where he works as a hairdresser. His journey began 24 years ago after a motorcycle accident that severely injured his lower left leg. Although 15 surgeries saved the leg, it never fully recovered, and years of pain followed. Eight years ago, he made the decision to amputate, a moment that marked a clear shift in his life.

Before that, pole dancing was already part of his routine, both as a way to stay active and as something he enjoyed. After the amputation, he leaned into it more fully, using movement to rebuild confidence and explore what his body could do. With time, that commitment led to competition, recognition, and three world championship titles.

What started as a personal pursuit gradually opened new opportunities. Andrew went on to perform at major events, including the Queen’s Jubilee and the Eurovision Song Contest. Being on stage became a central part of his path, not only for the performance itself, but for the way it shifts perception of what an amputee can do.

Alongside performing, he now teaches pole dancing, working with a diverse range of students and sharing his approach to movement and performance.

When he dances, Andrew prefers using a running blade. It allows for more fluid movement and adds a distinct visual element to his performance. With the Levitate Blade, one aspect stands out in particular: grip. Performing outdoors often means adapting to different surfaces, where stability is essential. The traction provides consistency, allowing him to stay focused on movement.

“I have tried other blades, but they are not always great on grip in all conditions. This one gives me confidence.”

Today, he uses it across his daily life, from work to walking, cycling, and training. It has become part of how he moves, supporting both his performance and an active, everyday routine.
